Fashion paradox is a paradox itself.
The First Fashion Paradox - Closed System
Here is an example of fashion continuation even without fashion industry that supports it’s existence. Let’s say any closed social system actually opens to the outside and accepts the higher level of development (If you want it just more precisely everything a system like that could accept is just fashion with all the social challenges and social changes) from the outside, it would not go back to the level of development where it was before denying fashion force, but it would just continue respecting fashion force like nothing ever happened. Without fashion industry, it was not manifesting fashion, but as soon as it becomes a part of the developed system in that moment, it can not deny fashion existence anymore, so it just keeps going from the place where fashion mass awareness was at that exact moment, not from the place of fashion mass awareness when the system initially closed.
The Second Fashion Paradox - Individual Scenario
Imagine a scenario where an individual was brought up by wolves for unknown reasons. The only knowledge this person possesses is how to survive in the wild. After 25 years, a group of individuals stumbles upon this person and decides to intervene by introducing them to the civilized society beyond the wilderness. How will this individual be compelled to adapt to this unfamiliar society?
This individual is compelled to embrace and accept the current fashion (in a later stage will be discussed as a trend). Just to clarify, it's not about the fashion industry or clothing, but about staying current with current collective acceptance, not the one 25 years ago.
There are two types of forced pressure of collective acceptance in this situation:
INNER PRESSURE
If tis individual wants to adapt to the society, feel accepted, they would have to accept to current fashion (everything under 2).
OUTER PRESSURE
The way this person would be treated would not be a way from 25 years ago, but current way. That person would not be forced to eat food that existed 25 years ago, but current food. That person (willingly or not willingly) would not be forced to continue the reality from 25 years ago when the development into society has stopped for them, but current reality, perfect example is technology.
FASHION PRESSURE ITSELF
There is a point in fashion that is still not understandable - it's relation to nature, since fashion is a force of anti-nature. There is no need to 'save' this individual and introduce it to the society around us, so what is it that makes fashion more accepted than nature?
Conclusion
In both FP1 and FP2, fashion was not existing at first in 3d reality, but after going outside the borders of reality from subjects in FP1 (any Closed System) and in FP2 (Person), there is no way for subject in FP1 and FP1 to continue and to sustain itself anymore without accepting fashion as a consequence of getting outside manmade closed systems (FP1) or even outside natural systems (FP2).
In both cases Fashion was not there at first. These are both cases of denying fashion, but fashion does not disappear when denied, it just does not manifest in 3D reality, yet, it grows and develops without any manifestation from anyone unaware of it.
It is important to mention that fashion industry is not a production of clothing, but production of fashion. Even this article can be accessed globally at this moment on a device that can be held in your hand, regardless of your location. No clothes there, yet fashion. What fashion industry would be is the design of that device you are holding right now. Not just it’s visual design, but every single detail of it from the way it works to the way it looks. And since it is fashionable design, it reflects fashion influence and time.
Thank you.
